Merrill Launches Brokerage Apps For iPhone, iPad, Blackberry

Merrill Lynch has launched brokerage applications for the iPhone, iPad and BlackBerry. The applications give clients of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and Merrill Edge the ability to trade stocks, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and options. In addition, clients can view their portfolio and account activity and move money between linked Merrill Lynch brokerage and Bank of America banking accounts. They can also track the latest market news and headlines. The iPad app offers more features, including personalized dashboards and access to the latest research reports from BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research. “Our mass affluent investors have consistently told us that they want to interact with us at their convenience and want multiple, coordinated access and entry points,” said Alok Prasad, head of Merrill Edge. The brokerage applications complement existing banking apps available through BofA. MyMerrill and Merrill Edge apps for the iPhone and iPad can be downloaded the iTunes App Store, while BlackBerry users can download them from Merrill’s website. Merrill is the latest wealth manager to join the mobile application fray. Citi Private Bank launched an Apple iPad application last year, and will debut an iPhone application in the next few weeks. JP Morgan also unveiled an Apple iPad application last year. It gives clients access to the bank’s research.
